As an independent self-government unit, the Szamocin Commune has existed since 1973.
Geographically and culturally, it belongs to Pałuki, administratively, it is located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, Chodzieski County.
The commune covers an area of ​​125.5 km2, has 7,500 inhabitants, of which the city is 4,400.
Szamocin has a good road connection with larger towns in the area - Chodzież, Margonin and Wyrzysk, and from there via national roads with all large agglomerations.
Two main lines Szczecin - Bydgoszcz and Poznań - Kołobrzeg also run nearby.
